Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 is a desktop suite with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote
This is a complex office suite which few people use fully but many assistive technologies are designed to work alongside its main sections especially Word and Excel. It is suitable for most users but may offer too many options to those with memory difficulties and some learning difficulties. It can be used with switch access, screen readers and text to speech as well as Braille output.
The Student version combines a word processor (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), and presentation program (PowerPoint) as well as note taking software (OneNote). The Home and Business version includes the e-mail and calendar application Outlook. Most tools are found on a ribbon type menu bar with quick access to the most often used features. Quick document views are in the bottom right hand corner - Some items may take a little getting used to if you are familiar with Office 2003. Equation editor is much improved, style sheets and references are much easier to use. This edition has handwriting and speech recognition, If you are running Windows 7 it is possible to use the built in speech recognition with the Office applications.
The Professional version includes Access (database), Publisher (DTP) and web design modules as well as Outlook calendar, task and e-mailer. Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student(PC) (£79.99). Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business,(PC) only has Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (£178.13).
